5 Gorgeous Flower Trends for 2023

5 Gorgeous Flower Trends for 2023

Like interior design and fashion, the floral world follows floral design trends too. At the beginning of the year, there’s nothing we love more at OASIS® Home and Hobby than checking out the latest flower trends. It is a great way to gather ideas and inspiration and to task yourself with trying something new!

After doing our research, we believe 2023’s flower trends are all about reconnecting with nature and embracing the new. But how do we incorporate this into our floral arrangements? Well, we’re here to help!

We thought we would share our thoughts and findings with you in 2023’s most prominent, on-trend flowers– let’s see where this takes us…

2023 Flower Trends

1.    Pantone Colour of the Year: Viva Magenta

Viva Magenta was announced as Pantone Colour of the Year in December, and we believe it is going to have a huge influence not only in the interior design market but also in the floral industry too! It is a bold and powerful red/pink colour that is great for brightening up bouquets, especially if you want to experiment with bold colours or try something outside of your comfort zone.

Viva Magenta contrasts beautifully with neutral tones too, so you can either go bold with your floral design and neutral with your container or vice versa.

We decided to go all out with this trend and teamed our flumet vase in Magenta with bright pink blooms, complimented with red roses and a touch of cream stems. What do you think? If this is too bold for your taste, keep your flowers simple and go with neutral tones. The natural colours of dried flowers work beautifully too.

Why not head over to Viva Magenta for our full range of gorgeous Magenta glassware, ribbons, floral packaging and more? Find inspiration and start experimenting with this bold and fierce color today. Don’t forget to share your creations with us on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

2.    Back to Nature

We spotted this floral design trend via the Flower Council and discovered it is all about allowing ourselves to feel vulnerable and encouraging us to become more environmentally conscious.

How can you show this in your flower arrangements? Our range of eco-floristry supplies provides all you need to create organic floral arrangements with natural shapes, styles and materials in earthy brown, green and cream tones. Keep your flowers natural looking, using neutral colors and seasonal blooms.

Knitted and hessian bags in green and cream are perfect if you would like to experiment with this earthy trend. They are both made from natural materials and can be reused. We filled ours with plants, but you can get really creative with this 2023 flower trend and try a floral design with a hand-crafted look.

3.    Retro Charm

According to the Flower Council, these on-trend flowers are all about re-connecting with the environment and respecting the products we use, being mindful to not just ‘throw things away for the sake of it’.

With influence from the 70’s, retro charm is all about embracing bold and bright colours mixed with funky prints. Plants will be everywhere, as well as dried flowers, colourful bouquets and glassware, and an array of printed floral pots.

The colour palette is a little miss-matched, but adds to the retro charm of this trend, mixing bright shades with pastels and natural tones.

When we researched this 2023 flower trend, we immediately thought of our Botanical Retro range including film roll and frosted fill roll, which gives us serious 70s vibes with its funky floral print. We teamed our Botanical Retro Frosted Film with our Jute Fibre Ribbon in mustard to create this nostalgic look. We matched the colour of the flowers to the film, using lots of green foliage with pops of yellows!

4.    Calming Nostalgia

Another lovely floral design trend announced by the Flower Council - Calming Nostalgia is poetic, delicate and soothing.

Go with darker shades of green mixed with softer pink and lilac tones. Plants will be a big part of this trend and for floral designs, it is all about the hidden meanings behind the flower to bring a personal and poetic touch to arrangements.

For these on-trend flowers, we really focused on the colour theme and decided to go with our Alice suprise box in calming green. We complemented this with pink and lilac blooms. Feeling calm and nostalgic?

5.    Enchanting & Unexpected

One of our lovely Home & Hobby team members recently attended Ambiente in Frankfurt and spotted lots of wonderful trends, including ‘strange and gracious’, which we have translated to ‘enchanting and unexpected’.

This 2023 flower trend is all about trying something new, experimenting with abstract shapes and pushing boundaries. For your floral designs, this is the time to go for something different and experiment with bright pinks, and peaches mixed with more mellow greys.

With this trend, we were drawn to our Levin vase. Not only do we love its modern, abstract shape, but it’s smokey grey color makes it the perfect canvas to experiment with bright and unusual blooms.

Inspiration for these 2023 flower trends was collected from the Flower Council, Ambiente and Pantone. We have put our own twist on each trend – we hope you enjoy these beautiful on-trend flower ideas as much as we have.
